I hope they still teach telling time in schools now that so many clocks are digital rather than analog. Tell a kid something moves “clockwise” may not mean much anymore.
They’re arranged that way for better accuracy in telling time. If the minute hand was short, it would be more difficult to tell which minute it is pointing toward.
