As I suspected. The club is just an excuse for the women to drink wine, no different from guys going to a sports bar and having a few beers. Of course, the guys probably don’t fall asleep in a noisy sports bar.
However, I can only speculate, not belonging to a book club nor hanging out in sports bars.
