Normal Houyhnhnms keep in superb shape and don’t need sleep because of the kind of mental and physical training that leave them a higher order being. Poor Horace was born without that certain quality that leaves him closer to a human, a mere mortal because of it. If he can get an ectoplasmic-neural fusion, he can catch up.
