Dogs should be trained from puppyhood that if they want ANYTHING, they should sit first. They should sit to get attention, get food, go outside, anything. It helps with obedience. I got my dog when she was 6, and she had been well taught to chase rabbits, not to be obedient. I know stubborn! But she’s now the sweetest, most loving dog, and a great therapy dog. Slightly off on obedience, but you can’t have everything.
I’ve always liked Beagles, but I’ve gotten too old to keep up with the heavy shedding. My Maltipoo doesn’t shed at all, no matter the season. His hair grows really fast, though. He’s ready for another haircut, before he starts developing matted clumps and knots. Luckily, he likes his groomer. I have been trying to wait until the weather warms up a bit, but that’s what sweaters are for! The worst shedder I’ve ever had was Mykei. She was a Smooth-hair Fox Terrier. Like a Beagle, those short, relatively coarse hairs were nearly impossible to get out of the carpet.

Buckles appears to be sitting. If not, how would it look different?

“Oh, yes! He’s the great complainer!
Complaining that I’m doing well!
My need is such I complain too much
I’m lonely, but no one can tell"
