Thank you for making that point. I am also very worried about increasing totalitarianism in society.
For all anti-totalitarian leftists here, who are tired of being lied to and manipulated into unquestioning stormtroopers for the elites, please start listening to the well-intended democratic socialist Russell Brand via YouTube and/or Luminary. Russell is a great news source for all other common people as well.
I was on a “neighborhood” website and kept getting “temporarily” blocked (and not reminded when I was allowed back on) — no real explanation, but apparently even mildly non-woke or non-PC things supposedly made someone feel unsafe. Clearly I was the one who was unsafe there.
Public speech is protected. However, you are not permitted to yell “Fire” in a crowded theater. Private institutions are allowed to cancel whom they will – ALWAYS HAVE BEEN. If you want to stand on a street corner and protest meteor microwave rain, you’re welcome to it. If you want to be in a nice, heated venue from which the owner expects to make a profit for years to come, you play by his rules.
The internet is NOT cancelling anyone. It is moronic fools, who I call obliviots, who cannot accept what has happened through history, learn from it and go on to meaningful lives doing things for the benefit of EVERYONE

In these days on the internet they apply to you what police tell you when they arrest you: Anything you say can be used against you.

The Internet is ejecting those who yell fire in the crowded theater when there is no fire. Thank you, Internet.

Wasn’t it James Madison that said, “I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will fight to the death your right to say it.?”

I do not defend the non-existent right to shout “Fire” in a crowded theater, and neither does the First Amendment.

SAY ANYTHING YOU WANT — ON YOUR OWN BILLBOARD
(You really don’t have to finance the propagation of the wisdom or foolishness of others. Unless it is MY foolishness, of course.)

I am not sure if that true in Canada, but it would be kick in the balls to some protesters and groups here in the states.
