I have never been on an Easter Egg hunt. My mother made personalized baskets for everyone who lived under her roof and placed them at their place at the table to be found in the morning. — One year I hid my little brother’s basket & at his place at the table I placed a “hunt card” which gave a clue to the next card, etc., until the last card led to the basket. The last time I did it, I was very sick. My brother asked me, “I know you don’t feel good, and I know I’m too old, but can you do it for me one more time?” I couldn’t say no. The funny thing is, I still have all of the cards, from all 3 years! I don’t remember how I got them; I must have found them when going through my brother’s room after he died.
I wonder how the “Easter Bunny” jumped into the whole Resurrection holiday? I think Santa came out of Coca Cola advertisements, and maybe the Clemet Moore poem. Unsure of the bunny.
We had an inch of snow on the ground this Easter morning. All the better to look for the bunny prints in the snow. Probably the cold is good for those real colored eggs in the hunt.
Watching small children in their discovery process, be it mundane things or celebrations is always fun. My favorite time to go to Disneyland has always been with a first-time 3 or 4 year old.
I miss Easter Egg hunts. When I was a kid my Mom hid the eggs Hard boiled only for the three of us then we took turns hiding them over and over until the shells were so smashed up they were too yukky to touch. I grew up had four kids and had Easter Egg hunts for them. They grew up and had kids and My husband and I had Easter Egg hunts for the Grand kids and my sister’s kids. Hard boiled and plastic both. The hard boiled had to be found quick because the neighbor’s dog really liked to find them and ate them quick. Now the great grand kids are coming along and I can’t wait till they get big enough to hunt eggs. Woo Hoo granny bunny rides again.

Using real eggs? Ugh!

April is not reacting much. Probably she is startled to get so much attention from someone who is not Farley.

They have to be able to tie the reward (candy) eggs not so much with the holidays before they can get excited

I suppose Michael is still at The Donut Shoppe with Lawrence.

Ugh!! I detest hard-boiled eggs!!
In fact, the only way I like eggs is either scrambled or in a cheddar cheese omelet.
But, Happy Easter, anyway!!

Looks like Elly forgot all about Michael sitting up all night in a 24 hour donut shop with Lawrence.…

Thank God we never had to do an Easter egg hunt growing up. There were four kids and we just got baskets with stuff already in them.

My children were hesitant during their first Easter Egg hunt. Then they discovered there was candy in them-thar plastic eggs and had a great time.

Lynn’s Comments:
I’m not sure where Farley the dog was during the egg hiding process. Perhaps the Easter Bunny hid the eggs just before they were to be found by April.

Unfortunately, April is a bit too young to get the point. But, she’ll learn. For now, Liz looks quite excited.

That’s okay. Sometimes you just need to let the big people get all that out of their systems so you can get to the pancakes.

We used to dye eggs and make Easter baskets, and ate all the candy, not the eggs

I remember my 3 year old grandson throwing an egg he found into his basket like a ball player throwing his ball into his glove!

Easter and Halloween must be John’s favorite holidays. They both will bring him lots of business down the line.

There has been another comic with this same theme offered before. Can’t remember which holiday. April was just as confused.

No one gets more excited over Easter, than a parent trying to indoctrinate a young child in the delusion.

I remember that some of the ones that were hidden too well & not found, had a way by smell of being found months later.
