But this is only a “legitimate political discourse”. It’s not like he is trying to teach kids CRT, now that would be bad. That would be as bad as calling Tucker a racist.

The day of the 1995 bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City I was listening on the way home from work to what was then a conservative talk show which would now be considered dangerously left wing. A caller started to praise the proficiency of the bomber and was cut off by the host who vehemently told him that the bombing was an atrocity and no part of it should be called anything else.

I don’t believe the caller was the former guy but if it was, he hasn’t changed a bit.

@StripedCat: “So Trump and Tucker are supporting the authoritarian tyrant. How un-American.”

The US Constitution states, “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” It does not, however, define “Enemies”.

I understand that the Supreme Court has (previously) ruled that only nations against which our Congress has declared war qualify as “Enemies”. (So apparently non-“nations” such as ISIS cannot qualify?)

So Trump and others currently cheering for Putin apparently can’t (currently) be charged with “treason”. (“Sedition” is an independent charge, about which I won’t go into detail right here.) But if this Ukrainian conflict escalates to the point where we do declare war on Russia, all that would change.

I’m not proposing that we declare war on Russia, since there are other, extremely serious consequences of such an act. But I’m fairly certain that the cheer-the-dictators “conservatives” have not considered all the potential consequences if that became necessary.

(Interestingly enough, it would seem that even if Russia declared war on us, they wouldn’t be considered an “Enemy” under the earlier Supreme Court ruling unless and until we returned the favor.)

As usual the left wingers are taking thing the right wing said totally out of context. So, from a military analyst point of view Putin’s opening attack was brilliant if not genius tactics. He opened his assault on three axis’ along four fronts which is probably the most complex operational plan he had available to choose from. Tactically is was indeed brilliant. Strategically? Maybe not so much. I said this days ago along with the caveat that Putin might be putting the bears paw into a meat grinder and at this time that seems to be the case. There’s no approval of Putin with this, just a wary sense of respect for a dangerous world leader in charge of the second or third most powerful military in the world.

That said, Russia should have captured that airport just outside of Kiev on the first day and have secured the city itself by now. But it seems the Russian have bogged down. Looks like Putin underestimated the Ukrainian people and the blessings of St. Javelin and Sister Stinger (heh, that last was my term).

Reports from the Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Russian losses include:

80 tanks, 10 aircraft, 7 helicopters, Over 560 armored vehicles..

Uncertain how much other equipment has been lost although I did see images of destroyed rocket launch system. It appears that those clever Ukrainians are using the Javelin’s Command Launch Unit thermal and night vision capabilities to mount night attacks on Russian units. Heheheh!

There are several government political figures from both the Democrats and Republicans who have personally met and interacted with Vladimir Putin and are now saying there is something off about him. Former Secretary of State Condoleesa Rice was on FOX earlier today and said there has been something strange about Putin’s recent appearances and that his speech and mannerisms are different. This has been affirmed by others who have met him. None of them are calling names saying he’s stupid or or insane, just saying that there is a noticeable difference in his demeanor. To me this is more chilling than if they were saying he is insane or out of control. His appearance is also noticeably different with a puffy face. Medications? Prednisone will give you ‘chipmunk cheeks’ but so will other drugs. He is 70 years old after all and being on medication at that age would not at all be unusual. The question is, is this a rational, sane Putin or has he changed into something less stable due to age and, or medical conditions.

Regardless, this is a disturbing new element that has been thrown into this invasion equation.
