Incidentally, in case anyone was thinking “Ducks” is a nickname for “Duke,” it isn’t. Alice addresses almost everyone as “Ducks.” It’s a term of endearment more common in Britain but not unheard of in the USA. If no one was thinking “Ducks” is a nickname for “Duke,” well, that doesn’t really change anything. :-)

No mother would ever lay claim to a child like Duke.
