Kool-Aid, Bandaids, and automobiles all pre-date sliced bread.

As I think Dilbert once put it, it’s the greatest thing since unsliced bread.

The History Channel series “The Foods That Built America” recently had an episode on the baking industry that was titled “The Best Thing Since . . .”.

Otto Frederick Rohwedder of Davenport, Iowa, invented the first single loaf bread-slicing machine.

Sliced bread was invented after Betty white was born and therefore was the greatest thing since Betty White.

I loved the homemade bread my mom made but it went stale so quickly. So, the greatest thing since preservatives? :) :) :)

Unsliced bread?

Once they came up with that one, all previous discoveries of mankind went into the trans bin of history.

But wait… There’s more!

Before there was sliced bread there was ripping off pieces of bread. Before that they just had to eat it whole.

The ‘best thing’ was in fact wrapped bread. Rohwedder had come up with a prototype for the machine 16 years earlier, but it was destroyed in a fire.

Good to know that all these products came before slice bread. Who says comics are not educational.
