I quit wearing mine when it became optional, but I work nights and spend most of my time working alone

I was into social distancing before there was a medical reason

I too continue with my mask wearing. I meet folks every day and while vaccinated my wife is compromised. I keep it out of me to protect her.

If you like the mask, keep wearing it, you have my permission, just don’t force your will on me and make me wear one.

I’ve had a customer (recently) sneeze on me mid-question! No covering his face, no turning his head, just achoo.

So ironic that masks are still seen as personal protection, when in fact over 90% of their function is to protect others from ourselves. We have clear data from the Spanish Flu that masking prevented the spread of disease. Many eastern Asian countries are decades ahead of us in masking up if you see yourself as a risk to others. Not only was the COVID curve flattened considerably in regions where most people masked up, but even as lockdowns and stay-at-home orders were lifted we had much smaller cold and flu seasons. Another sad fact is how many states and counties set requirements based only on political ideology, and even when they did the right thing it was for the wrong reasons and changes occurred seemingly without regard for what the developing research told us. I for one will forever have a mask in my pocket or desk drawer. I will likewise defend others’ right not to mask, but I will also exercise my right to walk away if they start coughing or sneezing without their “safety” on.
