Reminds me a bit of when we, as kids, used to see how far we could go or if we could make it over a ridge or snowbank without wiping out (or seeing how many of us could “survive”) while standing up on a toboggan going downhill.
When I was a young teenager, my dad made a “super sled.” It had three old skis as runners; the middle one could turn to steer. Just before we walked out the door, we worried the wooden top would get damaged by wet snow, so I suggested a duct tape layer.
Out in the woods, at the top of a straight shot, there was a few inches of fresh powder, and we kids insisted Dad try it out first. He laid down facefirst and went down—and immediately discovered the design scooped snow right into his face! It got packed behind his glasses and everything, lol. It also turned out that as soon as the duct tape armor got wet, it got slick, so whoooosh, there he went into the snow at the bottom of the slope, laughing.
Later, we discovered the steering mechanism took input as a suggestion, not law—it turned subtly and slowly. There may or may not have been some bruised ribs involved.

A bit of magic? It looks like BC starts off with only runners and then the rest of the the sled appears in the next panel.

It’s still a softer landing than if he tried to do that on his wheel on dry ground.
byamrcn almost 3 years ago
Actually that does look like a lot of fun!
rshive almost 3 years ago
It was fun watching. Needs some work on the landing, though.

Thatababy has it developed into a competition.

Obviously sled jumping needs a lot of work, fortunately they have a lot of time before the Olympics start.

I thought he had combined tobogganing with archery. (There are weirder sports.)
