Start developing your squats. You need strong legs, but they are much better for your back.

Moved something heavy and OUCH! spent 20 minutes trying to walk from the garden to the kitchen. Yeah, I’m a Plugger.

One of my pet peeves. People need to kneel to retrieve things not bending your back!

Yep, the floor does seem to get a little further away each year (or pound).

Yeah, I’m getting hit nowadays… wedge fracture in my lower back, along with my ever-trusty severe degenerative osteoarthritis. We have a Telehealth call with my Neurological Surgeon to discuss the MRI he had done on me when we were in Perth last month. And awaiting an MRI in my town on my right shoulder so my ortho surgeon can decide to operate fast or later sigh

One older lady I transported with her rollator that had a little plaque on it that said, “If I rest, I rust!”

I was going to suggest a helper monkey but in this strip it would be sentient.

Yeah, it must be some kind of practical joke: who moved the ground so far away?

I learned some time ago, that as my center of gravity shifted, my back worked harder, and it was time to start doing squats and stoops again.

Rub the rusty areas with WD-40.

Not so much rusting up as hardening up.

Still trying to find an oil to fix it. WD-40 isn’t cutting it.

A long time ago early one morning in Kyoto I discovered something called radio calisthenics. Even though I am not there, I still keep up the practice and a few other exercises. No problems reaching to keys or sitting at a keyboard weekend.

Mom is 94. She was able to walk until she started using a wheelchair when out of the house. 3 years ago she heard voices “from her neighbors house” that they were plotting to kill her for her house. She called the police (at 4 am) and they called us – she gave our info instead of my sisters’ as we go to bed very late and live closer and don’t out to work – so we ran over. When we got there the policeman told us they found her wandering around – she had taken all her jewelry and the cash she had in the house, put it in her purse, and gone out so “they” would not be able to find her and kill her*. Now is in wheelchair all the time.

*Problem was that she had given up driving and her car and was home alone all day. She had never even the (new) neighbors. When husband and I met these neighbors when we were all clearing out the house they were extremely nice and would never take an old lady’s house to open up a school to train children in her house to support a political candidate as she said they wanted to do – and strangely – it was the candidate she liked.
