Painful as it is to admit it, I’m all of the above. And last night was shorter than ever – awake at 0300 and for most of the next 3 hours. Finally asleep for just long enough for the sun to hit my window. Gonna be a pretty day but very cold for central VA and my red eyes won’t be looking for birds at the feeders or new blossoms in the yard. Napping comes to mind.
I’ve always been an early riser. At least since high school, anyway. My college roomies thought I was insane. What’s different for me now that I’m older and the kids are out of the house is that bedtime is earlier. I don’t watch much TV so that doesn’t keep me up. I usually head upstairs sometime shortly after 9 to get ready for bed. Then I read until about 10 or so. The other change is that I can take a cat nap on a weekend afternoon if I want. That’s a recent development. Just a couple years ago I couldn’t fall asleep during the day unless I was sick or seriously sleep deprived. A 20 minute power nap on Saturday means I can stay up until maybe 10:30 lol.
I get up when I can’t get back to sleep, ideally around 8 am, having gone to bed around 12-12:30 am. I try and eat supper before it’s dark, I don’t like cooking(or cleaning up after) in the dark. I can not nap, I just can’t. There be plenty of time for sleeping…the long sleep, some day.
Naps – intentional, or otherwise. Or are they just a given, and don’t need mentioning? I’m only three years into this senior retired life, and still trying to get the hang of it.

Wake up at 5, lunch at 10, dinner at 6 and off to bed by 9. Works great.

He didn’t say anything about getting up at 3AM to pee so I don’t think it is complete.
