Oopsie, former colony cat, I was worried whether or not he would use the box. He used it with no problem. In fact, when he buries, he BURIES. He makes mountains.
I had a cat who would dig at least six inches. He was on a dried mud flat out walking with me one day. I swear he spent ten minutes gathering dried grass to make a mound after he found out he couldn’t dig there.

My older make cat does that occasionally too. Digging and digging, banging the sides, all kinds of racket.

My male cat seems to make a contest of seeing how far across the room he can fling litter. I had to get a high sided box.
