I started reading Capp about fifty years ago, because I liked the soccer strips. No soccer in American media back when.

Cyril Knowles Stand…I had to look it up, this confirms Andy lives in Hartlepool. I’d read that’s where the strip was likely set, plus they have a statue of Andy.

It was so kind of you not to report them to the authorities.

Even though they didn’t pay any admission, Andy and Chalkie feel they do deserve something for the time they wasted watching a very bad game.

Since when do you get your money back when your team loses?

I can understand why Andy went out on a limb to get in free. Today’s cartoon’s prices for admission were cheap compared to the real ticket prices at the stadium. Hartlepool United tickets for home matches on game day are £21. Adults – £15. Seniors (65+), Under 19s, Students, and Armed Forces. – £6. Under 16s … and Under 5s are free with full paying adult.
