Brings back memories of kids drawing and wanting to put it on the refrigerator. We learned not to guess what it was but rather to ask the artist of modest skill to “please tell us about your artwork”

She drew a sketch of the drummer from “The Muppets Show”?

Whatever it was, it had nice…um…colors. And I liked the way it was standing. Or sitting.

Does Janis realize yet that Arlo wants to make some “Art” with her?

I predict that Janis tries her hand at modeling. ;-)

Watch it Janis, next thing you know you will be married, living in the suburbs with a child (I think maybe a son)…

This is a great sequence. An interesting courting story avoiding cliches.

This is like an “origin story” movie for superheroes. It’s definitely fun, but I wonder if Johnson is doing it in preparation for his retirement from the strip.

So Arlo were you the one who told her she might be better as art, then as artist?

Either Arlo gained some weight in the last panel, or his cell phone shifted to make that bulge in front of his stomach – or, since this was before mobile phones – something else has popped up.

That’s the point, I think. All goofy art students do a sketch of an animal. Safe guess.

She says she is not looking for praise. But, when he offers some, she really responds.
