    Today is:

    National Zoo Lovers Day

National All Is Ours Day. Observed each year on April 8th, National All Is Ours Day takes us along three views of appreciation. Celebrate each of the approaches to the day or pick the one that best suits you. The first approach to the day can be looked at as a time to reflect on all of the beauty of nature and all the wonderful things in life. Rarely do we have the time to explore all that nature offers us. Something as simple as the variety of birds that inhabit a local park or backyard can surprise us. Venturing further out, we can discover our National Parks or trail system. Whether we look up to the skies or closer at the new spring blooms, taking in our surroundings is a spectacular gift to enjoy. The second way to celebrate the day is by appreciating everything we have. Even when we don’t have much, what we do have is a blessing. This approach encourages counting those blessings and avoiding thinking about the things we do not have. A third way to view the day is by sharing all that we have. Regardless of what we have, sharing it seems to make tough times easier when we all work together. The greatest times and the greatest things in life are those that are shared.

National Empanada Day. National Empanada Day recognizes a delicious pastry that comes in several different forms. The name empanada comes from the Galician, Portuguese and Spanish verb em pandar, meaning to wrap or coat in bread.Empanadas are made by folding the dough or bread around a seasoned stuffing. The stuffed dough is then baked or fried. Very much like hand pies, these delicious pastries offer a variety of choices. You can make your empanadas with meat, cheese, vegetables or fruit fillings. However, they may be made with other ingredients, too.

Where is spring? They’re predicting a high temperature of 37 degrees today and it’s SNOWING right now. Just tiny flakes – they don’t expect any accumulation on the roads, just maybe half an inch or so on grassy areas. I actually caught a brief glimpse of the sun yesterday. The first time in a long time since I’ve seen the sun. It’s just been raining every day. They’re predicting a lot more rain next week. I really wish we could send the rain to drought stricken areas that desperately need it.

From yesterday’s comments to golfgranny47 who said “@laughingkittyYou must live in my neck of the woods! Gas is $3.89 and a high of 42 today!”

What neck of the woods are in in? I live in southern Wisconsin, about 22 miles or so from Madison.

I had the best night in probably 10 weeks. Slept soundly, only waking up once for minor pains.

Chesney really shouldn’t mess with sweet little Oliver’s mind. Perhaps it’s time to put him in lockdown on the loading dock. (Chesney, not Oliver.) On another note, saw seven robins, two juncos, and a sparrow while out walking today.

for MCTS- thanks for the info on Wombats the other night. I’m always curious about animals; especially ones I may never get to see. I just love them all. We just lost my mother-in-law’s cat. We have been taking care of him since she died in 2019 and he has been a very good boy. We had no idea he was ill till he stopped eating about 10 days ago. We took him to the vet and found out he had liver disease and was diabetic. He absolutely refused any of the food the vet gave us and wouldn’t eat anything until we got some fish dinners and gave him a nice piece of cod. We tried everything else we could think of and he ate a little tuna (packed in water) and a little roast pork with gravy. Then he stopped eating even that. We had him put to sleep Wednesday and he will be cremated. We only have our one little black kitty left—I’m sad.
