I’ve found this week to be interesting, with the Rosenthal’s (Kim’s adoptive parents) featured. I missed quite a few years of Doonesbury through the years, so the last time I saw them in the strip was when they were originally shown (in 1975 or 1976) with their new adoptee baby Kim, and Kim’s first words were “Big Mac!”. What made the Rosenthal’s particularly memorable to me was the father’s hair!

I never associated Mike with the Midwest before.

Not just a joke. I do bond with other guys over power tools. (Also with women, but only a few are interested in power tools).
