I remember reading a sci fi story many years ago about a major computer that was giving garbled answers to questions, and no-one could understand why. The technicians figured it had to with something in the room in which the computer sat, but couldn’t find anything that could cause the problem .. until they noticed that on the wall opposite to the computer, and able to be seen by the machine, (a bit like Hal in 2001) someone had put up a sign. It said “THINK”.
