Worst day of the week for me is Thursday.

Monday, just had a weekend.Tuesday, well, at least it’s not Monday.Wednesday, half way to the weekend!Friday, get thru it and WEEKEND!

But Thursday is after 3 days of work and when you get thru Thursday, you still have Friday to get thru.

So that is why Thursday is the worst day of the week for me .

In my morning message to my on line remote team The Count never uses the M-word. Day after Sunday, Tuesday eve, etc. Why bemoan the obvious?

Definitely no comfort when Friday is in the rear-view mirror. I thought at first maybe the rat was using the logic I used when I was a kid. If I was excited about an upcoming day, obviously I’d want it to be less days away. So I wouldn’t count “today” or the day of the event. So if I still followed that logic today, yeah, Friday would be three days away. On the flipside, if I was dreading the day, I’d want it to be more days away. So then I would count both “today” and the day of. By that logic, next Monday would be eight days away. Obviously, as an adult though, I know it doesn’t matter how you look at it. The day comes when it comes. And I believe the correct way is you don’t count today, but you count the day of.

You could try liking your job. Then Mondays aren’t a problem.

Now that I’m retired, I don’t look forward to Mondays cuz that’s when I start working out again for the next 5 days. I take weekends off to let my body recover.

Tuesday is worse. It’s one day farther removed from last weekend but still far enough away from next weekend to feel oppressive.

A few years ago the day of the week had more of an effect on my mood than almost anything else. As an example, every Sunday I’d buy five cups of yogurt and eat one right before I left in the morning. Every time I opened my fridge I’d immediately notice how many were left and that alone would alter my mood.

The thing was, I was saving up all my fun activities for the weekend and making the work week a time of unrelenting drudgery. Now to some extent that’s inevitable, because obviously it’s easier to do something that’s going to take up a lot of time on your days off. But not all activities that I enjoy are necessarily all that time consuming, and not everything I do in my personal life that takes up lots of time is all that enjoyable, So now I try to spread things around a bit more evenly, have some fun on the week nights, and not be afraid of weekends that are pedestrian and boring.

Don’t get me wrong, I still prefer Friday to Monday, all else being equal. But I think I have a much healthier attitude since I’ve stopped keeping my time so rigidly segregated. Before I was just wishing away huge chunks of time. Do that long enough and life goes by in a blur.
