The current Yankee Stadium doesn’t meet the field dimension standards set by MLB. Ballparks built after 1958 are supposed to be at least 325 down each line and 400 feet to CF, or other point if there is one farther than that of CF. Outfield dimensions can be shorter, but only if there are features (AT&T Park’s 24-foot high wall, the 21-foot wall in Pittsburgh, etc.) that compensate for it. Yankee Stadium has no such compensating feature. Why did MLB allow this?

The Polo Grounds—257 feet down the right field line.Ask Dusty Rhodes.

What galls me are the ANNOUNCERS with the Yankees who give “funny nicknames” to Yankees home runs.I almostwish Yankee players would be singles hitters so I can spare my eardrums.

The first Black player with the New York Yankees was Elston Howard.

The first Black player with the Boston red Sox was a utility infielder named Pumpsie Green.

This partly explains why the Yankees are way out in front of the Red Sox.

Anyway,Green finished up as a utility infielder with the woeful 1963 New York Mets—and said—

“A million people have asked me that question. So I’m going to write a book titeld “HOW I GOT THE NAME PUMPSIE”;charge a dollar apiece for them;and make a million dollars".Sadly,he never got around to writing that book.

Why wouldn’t a ball that hit the wall be considered a home run?
