Not sure it matters what size the strike zone is if the umpire it consistent. It’s when the strike zone is 3 inches wide for the visiting team and 30 feet wide for the home team that you begin to doubt his impartiality.
In recent years, “Gil Thorp” has had a serious case of Main Character Syndrome. Thorp can pretty much do whatever the hell he wants, without consequences: I’m still salty about the storyline about the kid who got expelled from school for accidently carrying a kitchen knife to school, with exactly zero pushback or appeal process. In this case, if I were the ump I’d forfeit the game in favour of the other team, just because Thorp pissed me off. But the Main Character never has to face any consequences for his actions. Bah. Just bad writing, all around.
Is this a Fantasy Baseball League? Because there is no connection to real life here. Wait, I know. Next comic, Gil wakes up in an alley with a huge hangover, and the dead umpire lying next to him.
P1 “You can’t eject my kid (if I ever had kids, but that’s a different conversation for a different equally stupid story arc), so pull my finger and I will forget this conversation ever happened, or I will make sure you are damned to GT for eternity, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
This is gilrediculous, starting with the umpire with his cap on backwards in a high school game. Cringeworthy. The umpire is on record that he warned Gil, because HvB is suing everybody when Hambone drills Ray Chapman VIII
You know that game against Atherton? I didn’t complain to you then, because I just now remembered during this game. I’ll gripe about today’s strike zone next week.
will this story end before ol Gregg goes totally blind from the unnamed but progressive disease that he has had, but has been apparently hiding from all the adults including his eye doctor(who apparently never noticed anything when she actually examined his eyes) but not it seems every kid in school? Why isn’t Gilpa aware that Scooter and the (unnamed) catcher are the ones telling Gregg to throw wild pitches? Why does Gregg go along with whatever his “friends” tell him No matter how stupid? What happened to the sub plots of why is Greggs dad hiding and why in all hells was Gregg hiding the fact that he was going blind since apparently grade school? Any kid I have ever known would be very scared about going blind and would be desperate to make it stop. Does Gregg have such a poor relationship with his parents that he hides the fact that he is going blind from every adult in his world, yet it seems that every kid in school has known about his growing blindness for years? How can he do his school work and take tests without any teacher noticing?(my eyes were getting worse by the time I was in third grade, my teacher noticed and informed my mother that I needed to get my eyes checked-this was in 1958, I thought everyone was like me and the further away, the more blurry everything got- The questions keep coming but the writers continue to make each new story more unbelievably stupid than the last. seriously, for the last 6 stories, each one has been more stupid than the previous. And that is really hard to do.
Well it’s nice to see Gillll giving his all during the one game he attended this year. But insulting the ump’s work from a game from a month ago (or whenever)? CK Louis should be ejecting his ass for that remark. Although, Gillll isn’t totally paying attention, as the ump said he couldn’t eject the kid, and Gillll starts yelling, “You can’t eject him!” But where’s P4, where the ump is yelling, “Why the hell is your pitcher sitting in the dugout in the middle of a batter? Now I’m ejecting him!” And speaking of ejecting, eject whatever unimportant things you may be doing and read today’s Mopped Up Thorp.
So what will Heatherrrr’s award-winning article that she’s taking notes for entail? Will it be a scathing indictment of Gillll and his coaches blatant disregard for the health and welfare of his pitcher and the opposing batters? Or will it be a glowing lovefest of praise, about how Gillll is giving this poor, disadvantaged youth one last chance to be normal? The second option is the ridiculous one, so that’s what it will be. But I’d love for her to write the first option, that would be AWWWWWESOME!

Actually, the umpire can eject the kid for whatever the hell he wants. GilPa’s only recourse would be to complain to the state association.

Who the hell does Gil think he is today? Ump can eject Gregg, Gil and/or declare a forfeit. And where is the opposing manager?

Wow, the argument with the ump was so long Gregg went into the dugout and took a seat.
