In grade school, maybe it’s the same medal, but grades start to matter at some point.

While (the same) eternal salvation is available to all who believe, those who accept Jesus (and the redemption He provides) sooner can also start to live (and reap the benefits of) it sooner.

Caulfield gets the same medal every year. It says “Congratulations for finishing third grade. Next fall you’ll be in third grade again.”

I didn’t know until now that everyone who finishes the marathon gets a medal. But is it the same medal? The first- and last-place finishers get identical medals? That seems more than a bit strange.

Yup. Mediocrity in the U.S. For what? Everyone feeling good about themselves? How’s that working. I was a college prof for 30+ years. Everyone expects a high grade but they don’t do the learning to earn it. It’s tough on teachers who actually have standards.

Try missing deadlines in middle school and beyond. The world is not as forgiving as elementary school.

It’s really terrific that you had a good year, because come September you’re going to have it all over again.
