Oh dear. Georgia said that in real life the Girl was just a baby at the time, but perhaps it is merely storytelling, or gross exaggeration, and the Boy did not actually respond in such a manner?
I woke one morning to the sound of the neighbor’s roof being removed. A squad of some ten people were singing, banging, prying and hauling. They got the roof off in one day and the re-roofing was complete three days later. Amazingly loud but better than weeks of constant noise.
When I lived in Pasadena I saw a helicopter being used to raise pallets of tiles onto the roof for re-roofing. It would have been twice as expensive to take down power lines and guide a crane through those particularly narrow streets.
1. GoComics seems to have recently implemented something that checks your post for certain words before it is posted. I’ve noticed that there seems to be a slight delay when I post the past few days. Also, someone at Adam@Home (I think it was) said that they couldn’t post the word indicating the below ground level of one’s house — and couldn’t understand why (I don’t, either). And they weren’t the only ones — @Le’letha above (in the second posted comment) couldn’t post an author’s last name. So, be aware of this — you may need to re-word what you post if you try to refer to the below ground level of your house! :)
2. Another change (possibly not recent, but I just learned of it and no one here has mentioned it) — GoComics seems to have implemented a Search text box at the top of the page. If I noticed it before, I assumed that I could key in “Breaking Cat News” and it would take me directly here. However, what it also apparently does is it allows you to search WITHIN a comic’s archives based on key words. For instance, a character named Percy appeared in the Adam@Home comic today, and someone wanted to know more about Percy in comments area, so someone replied that one could put “Percy” in the search box and it would find Percy — and… it did! It not only found the comic Skippy (by Percy Crosby), but found three previous Adam@Home strips with the character Percy!
We had a monster severe storm this evening—wind gusts of 70 MPH, 3 inches of rain, and almost nonstop thunder and lightning. The electricity went down a little before 6:00 PM and came back on a little after 10:00. At one point there were over 100,000 homes and businesses without electricity. Several reports of trees down on top of houses. I was lucky. So far just a few sizeable branches came off my trees. I could hear a mother bird frantically calling out for her babies. There were no answers. I fear the nest was blown down by the wind.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Elvis-Anum: What is that incessant hammering and shouting?
Beatrixia: Burt-Ra and his crew are doing some renovations on the Royal Palace roof.
Elvis-Anum: And where is Lupinium in all of this?
Bea: I think he’s teaching Diana some horse and rider stunts.
Elvis-Anum: At least he is away from all this noise.
Bea: There is room at the Great Pyramid. Why not go there for some peace and quiet?
Elvis-Anum: Great idea. Let’s go.
At the Great Pyramid
Elvis: Looks like the Hidden Library is nice and quiet. I can get a lot of work done there.
Sometime Later
Elvis: Now it sounds like someone is juggling pots and pans. But that scent isn’t half bad. I’d better investigate.
Elvis comes to the Great Pyramid Kitchen
Elvis: Thomios and Floofnet! What brings you guys here?
Floofnet: We found some of my old cook scrolls from the Hidden Library and decided to try some of the old recipes.
Elvis: How did you get ingredients?
Thomios: You could ask Violet-Ifa here, but I don’t think she’ll tell.
Violet: That’s right.
Floof: Anywho, would you like to try some of our honey scones and tea?
Elvis: Thanks. Don’t mind if I do.

Sun is shining, the surround sound is loud, yeah
Make you wanna move your coffee cup out now
To the roofers: here I am
Want you to know, y’all, can you understand?
here I am
Want you to know just if you can
(Tuesday evening) where I stand
(Wednesday morning)
Tell myself a new day is rising
(Thursday evening) get on the rise
A new day is dawning
(Friday morning) here I am
(Saturday evening) the cats don’t want to hear you
Want you to know just where I stand (coffeecup in my hand)
When the morning gathers the roofers
Want you to know “I are a builder too!”
So, to the roofers: here I am
Want to wave you hello now just if I can
How much I can stand, knock, knock, knock, knock, RRRIP! SAW! SAW! DRIIILL….oy!
