That same thing happened to me once many years ago. And there is a perfect scientific explanation. And no I didn’t sleepwalk for a midnight snack. The explanation was, in my college days I slept on a waterbed, and during the night the bed sprung a leak. In the morning when I weighed myself my pajamas were soaked with 2 pounds of water! (Wet clothes are heavier than dry clothes.)
He might be on diuretics that he takes in the morning. Its possible due to his weight and mama that he has high blood pressure. So the pills would wear off somewhat overnight, perhaps allowing him to retain some fluid overnight? Just a guess. Maybe he just needs a new Born Winner scale.
More like a nightmare if that really happened. More than likely, he misread either the before or after numbers. However, the scale being broken or needing new batteries. Or he could have been sleep eating …
