Vegetables are meant to be loved and eaten.
We had to destroy the vegetables to save them.
If you left it in the ground it wouldn’t have had to die.

All life (almost) exists by consuming other living things. Sorry… that’s the way the (our) Universe is.
The carrot could insist on being set free. Maybe even replanted.
