It’s still a thing. I get a newspaper every day. But when I write witty comments under each strip on the comics page, I never get any “Likes.” That’s why I come here.
High school English soured me on meta long before it was a word. I learned what literary criticism was about and was expected to do it. I’m still more interested in the emotional impact and the explicit ideas than the subterranean world of symbolism. It stopped me from being an English major.
I meta young lady once and thought she was very nice. I spent a lot of time with her, but we never really hit it off. There was apparently no future in our relationship and I began to wonder what I metafor.
