Reading is supposed to be #2 on the most popular hobbies. Looks like with Gracie it’s #1. Good for her.

I used to build forts with my books – encyclopedias were great for it. Then I would read in peace. til brother came and knocked them over.

She should see my house. The stacks are as high, but there are a lot more of them.

My hubs and I actually converted one bedroom into a full library in our last house. But by the time we built our present one, we had made the move to electronic books. As much as I love paper books, the storage space issue just got out of control. Not to mention that advancing years takes it toll on the eyesight. Ebooks are so wonderful for both their massive portability (I have hundreds of books on my tablet that goes everywhere with me and thousands in the main library) and for being able to adjust the font to make reading easier.

    I’m not a hoarder, I’m a collector

There are a little over 450 books in the collection and I do need another bookshelf, just have to make room for it

Someone asked Mark Twain why he had so many books stacked on the floor. “It’s harder to borrow shelves than it is borrow books,” was his reply.

Piling books sky high might not be a good idea; especially if they tips over on top of you.

My daughter’s house is known as “The Library”. I taught her to read when she was in kindergarten and we read a lot books. The tradition lives on.

And then there are the folks who buy books by the foot to fill shelves and never touch them.

The pandemic brought a lot of Little Free Libraries to my neighborhood as people tried to find creative ways to unload their excess books. Usually the public libraries accept donations for resale, but the libraries were closed for a year and a half.
