Last week I had a classic nightmare (not the first time). 15 minutes until the first day of school, can’t find my pack, can’t find my clothes and I just realized I left my bicycle at a friend’s house miles away. At the time when I woke up it was 15 minutes until first period ended class and I was still at home super-stressing. Mannnnn, that felt GOOD when I woke up. Very relieved.
Reminds me of one time when I had a nap at work… I was waking up and then realizing I’m still asleep and then wake up again and realizing I’m asleep and and and – can’t remember how I finally woke up but my head was spinning for sure
Dude. My happymares are always way more traumatizing than that, usually involving loved ones who are dead. I dream they are dead, then I think Oh hey, this is a dream, then I wake up and realize they really are dead.
It’s a nightmare when I wake up from a happymare. I try to go back to sleep to get to the happymare ending, but alas the moment has past and some other knight has save the fair maiden and lives happymarely ever after.
I’ve done that. One day at college I was napping on my bunk, window open (no AC back then) and dreamed I was really, really thirsty. I woke up, still thirsty, but I had fallen asleep holding a glass of water on my chest, so I went to take a drink from it, still lying down, and poured the water all over me — and THEN I woke up for real.

‘Happymare’?? The “mare” bit is OE for an evil spirit, so maybe something from *nihteadig would be better: ‘nighteady’ perhaps?

Deadlines don’t create nightmares. People lazing around not working make deadlines nightmares.
