Today is:

NATIONAL WORKAHOLICS DAY. I’m on vacation. I have no intention of being a workaholic today (or all week). I’ll put in some time in my garden, but I’ll be sure not to work too hard.

NATIONAL GRAHAM CRACKER DAY. A day for Ten Cats readers! Okay, I know they’re talking about the kind of graham crackers that you eat, but we have declared ourselves to be Graham Crackers, so it is our day.

NATIONAL APPLE TURNOVER DAY. I already have peaches to eat, plus strawberries and oranges. And I even baked a chocolate cake. I just don’t think I have room for apple turnovers right now, as much as I love them.

I’m worried about what happened to my garage kitties. Because I am on vacation all week, I had planned on trying to borrow a live trap from someone who lives here in town so I could try to trap them. I would be free then to check the trap often so nobody would be stuck in there for too long. But I have not seen or heard hide nor hair of any of them for 5 days now. The food was getting eaten some, but not a lot. That could be from a neighbor cat or even from the possum I sometimes see in my garage. I hope nothing bad has happened to the kitties. I already have 11 cats and I really did not need to add 4 more (I’m pretty sure there were 3 kittens), but I was willing to take them all in anyway. I already named mom cat Annie and I was going to call the black one Panther. I didn’t have a name yet for the other 2 kittens.

Bummer! We had rain for the 4th, so the fireworks were postponed until July 23. I’m going to be working that night, so I have to miss them. Unless I sneak out of work early….Hmmm, there’s a thought! I still have enough paid time off to get away with it. I probably won’t do that, though. Just a thought.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the parade shooting near Chicago on July 4. Six people killed. I heard 30 or 40 injured. What is the world coming to when you can’t even feel safe going to watch a parade? They have arrested a “person of interest.”

10:50 and I can still hear fireworks going off. “Go to bed people!”.

My new kitty Lucy is amazing! She has not been bothered at all about the fireworks the last three nights (the neighborhood type, not the giant boomers). Then tonight we had a thunder and lightning storm that she calmly laid on my desk for. I’d think she was deaf but I know she definitely isn’t!!! lol

No more climbing out the window! Took me hours to get the bike back in order and I ending up calling my neighbor for the last step, I don’t have the strength to pull the last part of the tire on the rim. I gave the dogs valium just before dark, we stayed in my sewing room which is 8 × 8 with no windows, turned on a loud fan and a movie and wrapped a flannel pillowcase around Fred’s ears. A few booms shook the house but the dogs stayed mostly calm once the valium kicked in.

I was worried all weekend about the grey kitten. I thought she would be too shy for this lady and her kids.Susan just called. They LOVE her to death and she fits right in. She plays with their 2 dogs. She sleeps with the lady and even sleeps inside her shirt. The kids have been taught how to handle her and love her. Her new name is Rosie.

Fun times ahead! (NOT!!).

One of the sites where I find most of the cat pictures and videos (Imgur), have finally forced the new “Improved” format on the site after it being in beta for quite some time. Up until now users have been able to opt out of the new format, but now no longer. Normally this would just be an annoyance until I either got used to it, or learned to tolerate it, but the new format has a hidden catch that while most users won’t notice it, users like myself who wish to link to pictures fall foul of it. They’ve changed the format the pictures are in. Like I say, most users won’t be affected, or even notice it, but it’s going to cause me quite a headache. What they’ve done is change the format from .jpg to .jpeg. It’s a very similar format, but the images won’t display automatically when using the GC Helper script. This is going to be a problem as I just used to copy the link to the image and paste it into the template. I have a working solution, but it’s not one I’m looking forward to. What I’m going to have to do is save each picture to my Imgur image folder and link to them from there. I’ve got several months of pictures and videos lined up ready to go, so I’ve got time to work out a better solution as it’s going to make my image folder quite large.

On the brighter side, just think how computer LITERATE you are! I think we ALL appreciate your hard work, and just know that some of us, would not be able to see these links without you. So THANK YOU More Cats!

Hooray, Annie to the rescue! Now all is well. Talk about happy landings. On another note, saw four juncos, a sparrow, a Wilson’s Warbler, two butterflies, a raven, and a rabbit while out walking today.
