I told Cecelia (the person I borrowed the cat trap from) that I have caught mom cat and all 3 kittens. I kept the trap set all day yesterday just in case there was a 4th kitten, though I was very sure there was not. It’s just that when I caught the black kitten, I didn’t see the little white spot on its chest, so I needed to make sure there were not 2 black kittens. Anyway, when I told her that I was keeping mom cat and the kittens in the upstairs bathroom, she suggested I should put them in a cage instead so they couldn’t stay hidden all the time. She even had a large cage for me to put them in. So, last night, I managed to grab t he 3 kittens by throwing a blanket over them and I got them into the cage. I caught the tortoise shell kitten first and I stuffed her into a cat carrier and got her into the cage. I had a heck of a time getting her out of the carrier, though. So, I decided I’d catch the next 2 and put them in the carrier together before moving them to the cage. I had one heck of a time catching the gray kitten that looks like Annie, the mom. But I finally caught them both and stuffed them in the carrier and I put the carrier in the cage. I opened the cage door, but could not get them to leave the carrier. They are still in the carrier in the cage. Mom is still in the bathroom. I couldn’t catch her. I got a picture of her hiding behind the toilet and I got pictures of the kittens in the cage. The pictures of the tortoise shell kitten didn’t come out well, but here are my other pictures.
If given the opportunity mom cat WILL go to her babies. Usually quite readily. Just give her a way and then you will have all of them. Good luck..thanks for saving them!
Mom cat, Annie, is still hiding behind the toilet, but I was able to reach behind and touch her just now. She never let me do that before. I started just petting her back end (as much of her a you could see in my earlier pictures), but gradually moved up to pet her head and scratch behind her ears. While she did not welcome the attention, at least she didn’t run away. And I got some better pictures of her. Here she is:

The other picture there shows the 3 kittens hiding in the litter box in the cage. I had a little trouble getting the black one and the gray one out of the carrier this morning, but I finally did it. Annie and the kittens all came out of hiding enough last night to eat the canned cat food I fed them. I kept the cage covered las night to calm the kittens, but it is mostly uncovered now.
Sorry, Doggie, it look like the kitties don’t want your help. (Their loss.) Hopefully, you’ll work with someone who truly appreciates you. On another note, saw two butterflies, a Wilson’s warbler, and a robin while out walking today.
