At least it’s not one of those dang remote control tarantulas. Those things creep me out. And The Boy needs a good talking to about upsetting his friends, the cats.
I remember the "Let’s Partaaay " real spider that was a character a couple years ago. He was a BIG spider who was really funny. The cats were not afraid of him, ( I think), but the woman said he had to go, trapped him under a glass and put him outside. He was back inside in about 2 seconds.
All spiders in my house get trapped under a clear condiment cup with a huge paint chip card underneath and then the whole thing goes out the door to be retrieved later. I figure their little lives mean as much to them as mine does to me. I’m still looking for the nickel sized black one that ran across my arm last week though while I was sitting in my chair! Scared the cr** out of me because I didn’t expect it. He must live in said chair. He’ll go out too if I can get him, but I haven’t seen him since. And Loaner Cat is no help whatsoever. She just watches them all toddle across the floor or wherever like they belong here and she’s just a witness, not a stalker. *sigh
I do believe that is the BIGGEST poofy tail that Elvis has ever had. As well as poor little Puck. Though I do feel for the spider once Lupin gets a hold of it…..(the fangs!!!!!!!!!!)
I have a spider cat toy with yarn legs and the cats love it. It used to hang from a door frame until the string was shredded. Now it hangs from a door knob. It still gets whacked about every so often. No fraidy cats in my house.
and that is why most small bug or mouse shaped cat toys are brightly colored. I foolishly bought some “mouse” toys that were all darkly colored… and I NEVER had so many " ::shriek:: OMG what is THAT!!! How did that get in the house! " moments anytime I caught sight of one. After that – only brightly colored cat toys allowed in my house.
We used to get jumpers the size of quarters in our house. You could actually hear them scurry across the wood floor. One day our cat scored a hit mid jump and sent the thing half way across the room.
I’m a bit late in catching up to the most current day’s comic. Our Maxine has a specific and peculiar call when she has caught Prey. Now this can be living prey or something that takes the place of prey (toy mouse or other toy). I always praise her for the mighty huntress that she is no matter the life quality of her prey.
Just tonight, she brought in a big “Palmetto Bug”, reddish brown and quite alive! She turned it loose, twice! in the kitchen and caught it again, while 4 month old Brave Heart (from the newest litter of feral kittens from Roberta, a likely 2 year old kitten from Mum’Zee) watched with rapt attention.
(Roberta, her sister Harriette, and their total 7 kittens were all born bob-tails. We’re still trying to get the baby-mommas caught and fixed.)
Then Maxine turned her bug loose the third time but didn’t pounce on it again. Maybe she expected Brave Heart to do the honors? Anyway, the thing crawled straight towards me! I stolmped it good!
Brave Heart moved in to inspect the result and so did Maxine. They did nose touchings and examinations of the “corpse” but when Max lay down to pick it up from an upside down position, I saw that the roach Wasn’t Dead!
ya, a stolmped that bad boy again and rolled the mess into a paper towel and dumped it, without ceremony, into the trash.
I saw betrayal on Maxine’s face and wonder from Brave Heart as I disposed of the vermin. still shuddering 4 to 5 hours later that I got THAT close!
Such are the adventures with “gentled” and feral cats/kittens in the house!

It’s a temporary threat, and will be neutralised by Lupin. As we would expect in this best of all possible worlds.

She was faux fluff and velvet
Falser than velvet was the googly eyes
Louder than sat#n were the cries
From the cats
She was faux fluff and velvet
And did I mention the bow tie?
Delighted I made a tender sigh
Joy was ours
Ours the joy I felt rightly
Feeling the rampage grow
Like a flame burning brightly
But when they left, behind was the glow of
Boo! velvet
But in my heart there’ll always be
Precious and warm, a memory
Through the cheers
And I still can see two toebeans
Through my laughter tears…
