When i enter a building, i don’t care whether the walls are sleeping or awake.

I remember the feeling

What would a school — specially an elementary school — be doing to make it sleep so late? For high schools, either a sports match (volleyball or basketball) or a dance (the prom or a regular dance).

It’s been sleeping like a brick all Summer long.

Poor school. Summer is over.

What exactly happens if a school sleeps in? Or is it just that the noise wakes it up?

What would happen if your school building remained asleep? I suppose the bells and heating wouldn’t turn on.

Cheer up. Sally will be here tomorrow!

Good gawd did the temperature drop below freezing overnight? Yesterday the bricks were a warm red color. Today they are turning a cold yellow!

What about all those kids bouncing their ball against the wall. And children running, screeching around the playground. Going down the slides and on the swings. And the ones playing tether-ball can get pretty loud too.

I hear you, building. School sucks at any age or level of animation.

That’s nothing. You should see how things are during back to school season.

Funny, I never thought of the old grammar school as being crotchety about returning school children messing up his sleep cycle. I can remember thinking of the old building with affection and thinking it held the same feeling for me. That it longed for the return of children into its halls of learning. Maybe this old building has a similar liking for some kids like Sally and a loathing for others like Lucy.

Even one week before Labor Day nowadays a new school season starts early.

And weekends?

Then you better enjoy the day!

These days the building has to wonder if some idiot with a gun (or guns) is going to start shooting him from the inside.

Some mornings my stepdad would sing “School Days” to my brother and I. He thought it was funny. I woke my grandson once playing his ukulele and singing “Tip toe through the tulips” in my Tiny Tim voice.

Worst theme Schultz ever came up with. But with all the great things he did, I guess it was just a tiny bump in the road.

That early bell is going to be rough

I like the idea of a school building responding to students. Wonder how Schulz came up with the idea. Don’t recall it being in the biography.

School was red brick yesterday. Today it’s blonde (as it usually is)

All in all, you’re just another brick in the wall.

I’ve been in some very old buildings which seem (anthropomorphically speaking) to exude a sense of tiredness, strange for an inanimate object.

Schools need rest from kids, but I think a reprieve from the summer heat is welcome too

There’s always weekends and holidays.

I miss when the local radio station would play Alice Cooper’s School’s Out at the end of each school year. You knew when all the local elementary and high schools went on summer vacation. Played it every year until some time about ten to twelve years ago.

Seeing school buses running again were the sign school was back in for the school year. Nothing’s changed there.

The building must have “mood bricks”,they keep changing color.

The building’s thoughts are a little Grinchy, aren’t they?!!
