Can’t be a coincidence… in the 1960s, there was a comic book series called Turok, Son Of Stone about a Native American who somehow wound up in a world of dinosaurs. But he dressed like an Indian, not like a caveman.
How about Turok: Dino Orthopedic Insert.
Don’t forget Tom there was also a first person shooter, video game call Turok: Dino Hunter for Nintendo 64 back in the 90’s….whether the name came from that comic is anyone’s guess.
I believe that the basis for the 90’s FPS entitled Turok the Dinosaur Hunter was a take on the older comic book series. I remember hearing about it back in the 90’s when Turok was first released. My friends and I took to the game like fish to water, since we had already honed our skills and whetted our appetites for the genre at the reins of such games as DOOM and Wolfenstein on PC. It goes without saying that we were nothing short of stoked at any opportunity to experience the genre on our preferred platform (the console). Although DOOM on the 64 was a monumental disappointment, Turok was not. ;-)
