We have a dark brown cat tree like that. Achilles was at the top of it just yesterday. We have an older, less elaborate tree on the catio. He is often at the top of that one as well.
I remembered this as the conclusion. Those are two happy cats there! Yes, Tommy truly remembers when the ancestral cats snuggled up in hammock trees before going out to hunt kibble.
Colette spent the entire day yesterday sleeping inside the cubbyhole of her cat tree, ten feet from my chair. I think she had been out the whole night before. It was disturbing because tabby-in-shadow is the closest thing to invisible. It was necessary to creep up and shade your eyes to see her in there. Occasionally, I heard weird ghostly moaning noises. I finally figured out it was her snores reverberating in the cubbyhole (probably explains a lot of historical ghost noises).
She only came out as far as the cubbyhole porch to lap up some cooked egg yolk and later for some kibble treats. She even passed up our customary evening walk. It was worrisome.
However, this morning, she is back to normal – eating, scratching the cat tree and went for a half hour walk with me at 5:30 a.m. Cats!
Apparently, there is a canine respiratory virus of some sort making the rounds in the South East; although Bella is up to date on all the recommended vaccines, including kennel cough, canine influenza, and bordetella, it appears that whatever this virus is, she’s got it.
So far, she just seems very tired with a diminished appetite, but please keep my girl in your thoughts, that she will have a mild case and be feeling better soon. Also, spare a few for my sanity, because she loves going to day boarding to play with her friends; a 14-day quarantine is not likely to be fun for either of us.

Tommy and Sophie’s Woman has a hammock for a couch, as I recall. Only fair that the cats get a cat hammock, too!

The Orb’s Tommy
Sally Simpson
One Wintry Day
Outside the house a car went by
Tommy looked out so wistful
Could it be looking out the window
There was his own sister?
From the back seat, Sally waved
To her brother, she missed so badly
And Tommy ran to chase the car
And kept running, sadly
…….
He knew from the start
Deep down in his heart
That he and his sisters were miles apart
But he decided "Never mind my part
Is to see who I’ll see."
…….
Sally missed her siblings so
Would she see them, was there a way?
The answer to that would be yes,
But that’s a story for another day.
After Tommy ran after the car for awhile
He looked at all the scenery,
Nothing looked familiar anymore
So he stayed in a house with greenery
…….
He knew from the start
Deep down in his heart
That he and his sisters were miles apart
But he decided "Never mind my part
Is to see who I’ll see."
Tommy’s Woman: Tommy can you hear me?
Are you out there somewhere?
Tommy can you come home?
You know that we all care!
Tommy?
Tommy?
Tommy?….

Poor Tommy. I always felt just a teeny bit sad that he had to try a little bit harder all the time and yet, he was always so darned happy!

Pretty cat tower. I remember an ad for one in the early 70s where the only choices were green and gold or “special color if available”.
