Sorry, Calvin. You can only say that to people who aren’t your parents. Your parents ARE the boss of you, and you DO have to do what they say.At least in the eighties when you were drawn you did.

Maybe he can take Suzy, his prom date, to bed with him at 7:30. You know, skip all the overhyped folks-de-rol and cut to the chase. And whatever you do, don’t fill up those tubular nipple tipped balloons with water. They’re for something else.

I used to ask her parents what time do they want my date home. Now, I ask her child what time does she want her mom home.

That sounds about right; when he is 18 he will know and understand everything.

Calvin: Isn’t there something like a “divorce my parents” escape clause?!!

My child was about 9 when she complained about bedtime reminders. I explained that parents do that to make sure their children get enough sleep to stay healthy and function well the next day. I added that parents don’t need to do it anymore when the kids are mature enough to handle it themselves, and if she’d like to give it a try, that would be fine with us. After that we didn’t have to tell her when to go to bed.

I don’t think Calvin will have to worry about a prom date.

I hated going to bed at 7:30 in the summer when it was light out and I could hear all my friends still playing outside.
