NATIONAL ALL OR NOTHING DAY. We all have dreams we hold back, decisions left to make, or plans uncompleted. On this day, people break free of everything holding them back. Everyone has at least one thing that they would like to overcome, need to do or want to do but might be fearful or hesitant to do so. This is the day to go ahead and do it, take that first step and go for it.
NATIONAL DISABILITY INDEPENDENCE DAY
NATIONAL BAGELFEST DAY
NATIONAL AUNT AND UNCLE’S DAY Well, there’s one for me
NATIONAL COFFEE MILKSHAKE DAY Yes to the milkshake. No to the coffee flavor. Make mine chocolate or chocolate malt
It poured rain today, for about 30 minutes, but still. Best of all the temps dropped. Highest next wee will be 102! Poor Dennis in Seattle. 102 up there is miserable because very few houses have air-conditioning.
Holy cow! I was in my garden yesterday, picking green beans and zucchini. I was last out there picking on Friday and I only saw a couple zucchini which were not quite big enough yet to pick. At that time, I figured I’d be able to pick 3, or possibly 4 medium-sized zucchini. Well, I must have missed something because by Monday, I picked 9 zucchini. And a couple of them were monsters. I have a few more baby ones that I will likely be picking by Thursday. Those things really grow fast!
I also picked over 16 pounds of green beans and I dug a few potatoes.
Pacific Palisades was barely 70 yesterday – a lovely change from out 100s. The drive wasn’t as bad as expected but my 81 year old doctor is suffering side effects of the immunotherapy she takes to hopefully keep away the cancer she developed 2 years ago and I am concerned I may not see her again. Annie was so adorable yesterday!!
Two questions for Graham: 1. Why am I carrying a briefcase? I’m retired. That also applies to my shoes. If it ain’t sneakers, it ain’t on my feets. 2. If it’s hot, why are my sleeves long? If it’s humid, my hair does drop and frizz so that’s correct.
Back in 2013, I ws in an apartment in Wichita. I would let my two cats of the time go outside, going with them to keep an eye on them and make sure they didn’t wander off too far. One day, the older of the two (about 10 years old) headed back to the apartment door waiting to go back in, which I let him do. The other soon followed. I knew it was hot out and later learned the temperature was in three digits. I was glad they were able to communicate with me so well.
Off topic: Brad is the primary grocery shopper. I hate doing it (which is why I do it online). Usually he’s really good at it but today, maybe not so much. We needed sugar free jello. The brand we get is Winky and comes in a 12 pack. He got THREE packs. 36 little cups of jello. For two people. We were out of toilet bowl cleaner. THREE containers! Two people, two toilets – do we really need THREE containers? I don’t think so. Maybe the humidity frizzed his brain.
Sounds like very good advice for this time of year. I don’t like it when it gets really hot, but I also don’t like it when it gets really cold, either. I suppose if I had my way ( and I don’t) it would never get hotter than seventy-five degrees or colder than forty degrees where I live. On another note, saw a junco, a rabbit, a robin, and a spotted towhee while out walking today.

You know, that lady is going to be moderately aggravated when Jack and Chesney try to crawl out from under her muu-muu.

How many cats are under there? I only see two tail tips. Essentially, we have Ten Cats with no visible kitties.
