Jungle gym, monkey bars, maypole, tire swing, and yes, merry-go-round. Thinking about them, all words, except onomatopoeia, are made up.
A lot of those playground things we played on years ago have now been banned & done away with as being too dangerous.
My husband thought I had made up the word teeter-totter. Yes, I also knew them as see-saws but originally everyone I knew called them teeter-totters. Plus that term is just more fun to say!
my kids never played on a teeter totter. in our city none of the parks had them
