Minor point – doesn’t diminish the gag, which is pretty funny – but the Sun isn’t going to go Supernova. It’s going to become a Red Giant (expanding to consume and burn up the Earth in the process), then shrink to a White Dwarf, a super dense, cold dead body.
I’ve thought of something similar. By then we would have large spaceships that can hold whole cities of people and we can zoom out of here over to the next star system with a similar planet with a younger sun. Possible, no?
