As I’m reading Adam Smith’s “The Wealth of Nations”, I learned a new word: MALVERSATION: Misconduct in public office. It should be easy to find opportunities to use it.

There seems to be a gas shortage. So maybe elect those who have less ‘gas’? What we have in Washington D.C. and the state Capitals are a lot of political farts. So it’s no wonder politics stink.

My governor is from the “other party”, and is really a decent guy. So I vote for him, and then without guilt vote a straight ticket on everyone else.

The thing is both political parties are private organizations. They have no responsibility to represent the voters. They sponsor the candidate they prefer. To be upset about that fact is to misunderstand that the parties exist to push their agenda, and to support the candidates that they believe will further that agenda. If you agree with their agenda, then support them. If you don’t support their agenda, then that would be a dumb thing to do, because they don’t represent you, they never promised to do so, and they have no responsibility to you. And, it doesn’t make any more sense to allow them to determine your opinion of any candidate than it would if it were your local YMCA. For that, you need to actually do a little research ( try Open Secrets) and find out who does best represent your opinions. That’s where you should send your money, volunteer and vote.

Both political parties have fallen under the thumbs of the special interest groups and big donors. The only thing most of them care about is getting re-elected. To hell with the Country.

Not intending for this to be a blatant political comment, but I’m sure some may take it that way. Our local Representative, a Republican with unquestioned conservative credentials and gaining some serious seniority (and at one time was called a “rubber stamp” for Trump’s interests in Congress), recently lost the primary to a right-winger whose only qualification is that Trump endorsed them. I’ll admit that I wouldn’t have voted to re-elect our Rep. anyway, but good grief people! Someone who will vote their conscience and had the cahones to cross Trump on a very serious issue (something seriously lacking in the GOP), was unwilling to kiss Trump’s … feet. So, our Rep. was now dead meat to Trump, and the Republican voters dutifully went out to do Trump’s bidding (“Trump said to do this, so we have to do it!”).

TERM LIMITS!!!! ONE TERM (even if longer than current) THEN OUT!!!! Focus on the JOB!!! NOT on KEEPING the JOB!!!! I could live with a Politico having as much as 10 years in office in a single term…after that…GET OUT AND STAY OUT!!! NO FOREVER FULL-PENSION!!! NO LOBBYING!!! HIT THE ROAD AND WORK A NON-POLTICAL JOB!!!!And MALFESEANCE IN OFFICE…..a FELONY! Maybe a Capital Punishment one!!!

I always thought a history teacher out to run for president. They’d be well versed in what caused the decline of empires/nations/governments.
