I could give Horace some good competition in a line choosing match.

Thanks to the pandemic, my lifestyle has changed. I haven’t waited in a checkout line in two years.

I never had a good time in a checkout line. Nobody else in line ever seemed to be having a good time. For certain, the cashier was not having a good time.

Same here but with the added habit of switching to an even SLOWER line.

Without the ectoplasmic spider in his brain Horace is just like a Human in temperament. So, it is hard for him to develop any of his Houyhnhnm abilities. See the film “Lucy” for an idea of the kinds of things Houyhnhnms can do. Equine Vulcans.

Here’s another one: you need a particular product, and seems there’s no one else in the store, it’s almost dead empty. EXCEPT somebody will be parked right in front of your item, blocking your view. Happens all the time.

That’s why I like places where there’s just one big line that advances each time a cashier finishes with a customer. That way, one slow transaction can’t hang up a whole line of people.
