Lord Ronald Sutherland-Gower’s Reminiscences: “The patter of little feet, and the unconscious joyousness of children.”
OR
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’’s The Children’s Hour: “I hear in the chamber above me The patter of little feet, The sound of a door that is opened, And voices soft and sweet.”
Today my “baby” is starting her senior year of high school. She’s really looking forward to it. She’s 5th in her class, in Key Club & Choir, and is really hoping to make it the best year ever. (It’s also the school’s 100th anniversary, so there’s that.)
When my son was in high school, he had left a pair of shoes in the front hall—again. As I bent down to pick them up, I noticed how big they were. I remembered how tiny his shoes had been just a short while ago. I realized he and his feet were now the size of an adult and it wouldn’t be long before I would be wishing his shoes were still in the hallway.
Our schools started middle of August. Last week of August, parent’s, we are not one of the parent’s as ours our adults, 5 student’s had guns in 5 different HS, a group of students got peppered spray for unruly conduct.

Do you still hear the metallic slamming of lockers anymore, or are those all gone and everyone wears backpacks now?
Chris about 2 years ago
maybe for you, you don’t have to be with them most of the day.

My local school district is closed today on the 1st day of school because they don’t have enough bus drivers. (Now, how is THIS going to be solved?)

School days, school days
Dear old Golden Rule days
’Reading and ’riting and ’rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hick’ry stick
You were my queen in calico
I was your bashful, barefoot beau
And you wrote on my slate, “I Love You, Joe”
When we were a couple o’ kids
I always like Chuck Berry Better……..
Up in the mornin’ and out to school
The teacher is teachin’ the Golden Rule
American history and practical math
You study ‘em hard and hopin’ to pass
Workin’ your fingers right down to the bone
And the guy behind you won’t leave you alone
Ring, ring goes the bell
The cook in the lunchroom’s ready to sell
You’re lucky if you can find a seat
You’re fortunate if you have time to eat
Back in the classroom, open your books
Gee, but the teacher don’t know how mean she looks
Soon as three o’clock rolls around
You finally lay your burden down
Close up your books, get out of your seat
Down the halls and into the street
Up to the corner and ’round the bend
Right to the juke joint, you go in
Drop the coin right into the slot
You gotta hear something that’s really hot
With the one you love, you’re makin’ romance
All day long, you been wanting to dance
Feelin’ the music from head to toe
’Round and ’round and ’round you go
Drop the coin right into the slot
You gotta hear something that’s really hot
With the one you love, you’re makin’ romance
All day long, you been wanting to dance
Feelin’ the music from head to toe
’Round and ’round and ’round you go
Hail, hail rock ‘n’ roll
Deliver me from the days of old
Long live rock ‘n’ roll
The beat of the drum is loud and bold
Rock, rock, rock ‘n’ roll
The feelin’ is there, body and soul
