Sadly Sally, that is more true than anyone wantsto admit!

Sally’s astute. We didn’t seem to learn from 1933 Germany. History repeating.

She’s right, we don’t learn anything from history. That’s why we’re repeating it.

I wonder how many of today’s young school students are taught how to read that ‘writing’? And can they read it? (For example, what is the word in the top right fourth panel that looks like wcn, or possibly cucn?

The state of U.S. Public Schools today. Which is unfortunate.

And you didn’t learn anything from science and geography and reading and spelling too!

For one thing, the stuff in history books isn’t always as accurate as it is made it out to be and since time travel hasn’t been invented, we will never know the full story.

We learn from history so that we don’t make the same mistakes as the past.

This frees us up so that we can make brand new mistakes.

What about herstory?

There’s a lot to learn from history. The problem lies in forgetting what we should have learned. Or becoming complacent or indifferent, thinking, “that would never happen today.”

Then we end up repeating it, like we have been warned.

I had students like… very adept at not learning anything.

The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.

History was written by the winners. Take that as you will.

I learned plenty from history. unfortunately those elected to lead did not, so i’m doomed to watch it repeat itself.
