Reminds me of two kids in my class who were on a youth football team. Their big moment for the season was when they made a first down.

Did you catch a ball?

That’d be sorta depressing

Mom’s gonna be so happy. Look how clean your uniform is. We’re getting ice cream anyway.

I think you have to play 3-½ innings before they invoke the “mercy rule”.

I coached two soccer teams like that. They couldn’t buy a goal. They were expansion teams that spent more time playing against eachother than the opponent. The only thing that saved them from losing 17 zip was the clock.

Thankfully there’s the mercy rule. Or is that the misery rule?

It isn’t whether you win or lose, it’s how you played the game. You played lousy and you lost.

So does that mean that the visiting team starter pitcher received a no-hitter game without even having to step out onto the mound?

At least there wasn’t any “woke” adult who declared, “There is no score! Everybody wins!” :P :P :P

well, at least they now irritated by the suns rays and you guys got to go home.

Brutus, why weren’t you at the game!!!

Reminds me of some of the Little League teams around here. I feel sorry for the kids on the team. There is this though, not everyone wins and there aren’t any participation trophies (that I’m aware of) and while it is a bitter pill to swallow, dealing with loss and defeat is a valuable lesson.

Games have been called after time involved. Also because of boredom, sleepiness, fatigue, other games, school, jobs, life.

Only Wilberforce Thornapple would be on a baseball team that can’t pitch, can’t field and can’t get past the top of the First inning. Pretty much an athletic metaphor for Brutus Thornapples life, called due to the run rule.

It’s possible to have fun and enjoy the game even if you don’t win. Even the offspring of the Born Loser can do that, provided Brutus picks his next words carefully.

Well, at least it wasn’t eighteen to nothing…

Better luck next time. They need some work on their fielding and pitching it seems…

Sounds like born loser-ness is both genetic and contagious. From Brutus to Wilberforce to the whole team.

Looks like next game can only be an improvement.

Shouldn’t the score be higher? With no outs, 17 runs would go pretty quick…
