This quantum effect allows certain types of nuclear decay with a virtual pair springing into existence inside a nucleus, or half of the pair.
I thought the idea of socks going through quantum tunnels in the dryer was established as a scientific theorem a long time ago.
My younger daughter is like this, except she simply doesn’t see what is in front of her. A consequence of being autistic I think.

2. Quantum tunneling happens because on a small enough scale, the barrier occasionally isn’t there.
