We know Nate has a high IQ, but what if he finds out that his IQ’s higher than Gina?! Though it would have to be more about using knowledge rather than having knowledge
Gina’s not smart. She just has enthusiasm to learn things and memorize them for academics. Nate could do that just as easily if he had that same morale. Grades do not define intelligence.
Technically Nate does have a higher IQ then Ellen (although IQ doesn’t equal intelligence). People are just smart in different ways (and also Nate doesn’t try).
Every grade school teacher to my parents: if only she would apply herself. I became a teacher to figure that out. Truth is, self discipline is in the hands of the student. It can be modeled, but it is up to the student to practice.
Okay so this arc just went from “Trite as all heck” to “REALLY intresting” Granted I don’t know if they’ve covered THIS terriotory before but this is an intretsting swerve: making us think this is something the comic did a thousand times before.. and then pivoting. And it’s honestly something that is 100% true of the comic: Nate is really smart.. it’s just he has no intrest in learning the things in school. We see with Art class he takes to it well, he knows peanuts probably better than even myself (I’m sure he’s already doodled snoopys awkward teenage nephew), and he knows various other subjects like comic books, other comic strips and trivia well. It’s just the teachers aren’t intrested in helping him GET intrested and more in punishing him for his hubris, as is sadly how the school system is built. Godfrey does sometimes geninely try connecting to nate, it’s just his stubborn instiance she’s satan makes it hard for her to make any progress, as does Godrey’s own old school way of teaching. Don’t get me wrong, Nate does take his slacking way too far, but it’s an underfunded overcrowded system staffed by underpaid people who have to work second jobs just to get by in some cases as seen with Mr. Rosa. I can’t blame him for being disintrested when no one’s actually trying to make him enjoy learning. Rosa I feel dosen’t just connect with nate because art is what Nate prefers, but because Rosa actually tries talking to him on his own level> he fails sometimes due to nate’s ego and oblivoiusness, but he at least tries to treat the kids as people. Same with the good coach whose namne I can’t remember. I can’t tell if this point is intentional or not but given Lincoln Pierce WAS a teacher, it’s very likely.
Hey leave Gina alone! Gina is smart, but I strongly believe it goes to Gina’s head at this time of her life. Meanwhile, Nate can be just as smart as Gina EXCEPT he doesn’t know how much potential he has. Besides, he wants to be “cool” instead of a “know it all.” I know. I went through that when I was growing up at their age back in the 1970’s. I am ancient as disco music, bell bottoms, and vinyl seats found in automobiles during that time. Thank you Ms. Godfrey! Love the strip, BTW.

This is ridiculous. There needs to be a whole week that focuses on Chad. Maybe even two weeks! Now!

But they’ve worked together in the past, and they passed. But the novels are canon, so it doesn’t really count.
6.5/10 This could lead to something great.

Mrs Godfrey knows how to be really, REALLY, offensive! And now Nate has to calm Gina and deal with her unavoidable rage.
Mugens Premium Member about 2 years ago
This may be the reason that Mrs. Godfrey is so hard on Nate. She knows he is intelligent, although he continues to fail to show it in his classwork.
