Why did you get this, it’s not what we eat? It was BOGO. So now we have 2 whatevers we won’t eat. Perfect, just remember to not get the regular until “we” eat the stuff we don’t like. Warning, this does not apply to chocolate and most ice cream.
There are many empty shelves at the grocery stores, these days. But, rather than buying a lot of sale items I probably don’t want or need, I look elsewhere. As I generally move about the whole city each week, I have many grocery options available to me.
The problem is, the sale prices are the real price. I only buy what’s on sale and stock up. Love the freezer. No canned goods. Veggies for the week. Seriously, who the heck is paying close to 5.00 for Thomas’s original english muffins. 1.99 a lb for zucchini. 1.50 a lb for butternut squash ?? The good news. I’m eating less and healthier. No junk food. None, nada.
Since COVID, quite a few of my favorites have either disappeared permanently, or they’re really hard to find. If I do find them online, they’re so expensive that I refuse to buy them.
When I go shopping for groceries, I tend to forage. If they have enough food that I like and can eat over the period of time I need until I plan to return, it’s all good. It keeps me out of eating the same things all the time. I go in with an open mind. This is the fruit market, not a large chain grocery store. The large store is where I get my staples and order them online ahead of time and they put them in my car’s trunk when I go pick them up.
the supermarket my wife worked at held sales every tuesday and, sure enough, was thronged with people looking for bargains every tuesday. according to my better half, the store stocked items for tuesday sales that were especially procured for the sales and not available the rest of the week. in other words, the stuff that was “on sale” was cheapo cheapo crap that the store purchased specifically to “mark down” and it wasn’t at all that shoppers were being offered bargains…

Sometimes I will pay a little more for something if it allows me to avoid making another stop.

Hey, do you sell books with your strips? I looked on Amazon and only find a few out of print old ones from decades ago.

They’re generally on sale for a reason: nobody else wants them.

I saw her today at the super market
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she would squeeze that tomato
At her feet was the produce man

To paraphrase Sheryl Crow, it’s not having what you want, it’s wanting what you’ve got

sounds like a plan to me… just don’t go buying weird useless items you don’t know or can’t use.

As long as the sale items are things you will make use of, Gladys, otherwise you’re just wasting money. But I suspect you already know that.

Mine is, if you can’t get what you want, get what they have. My store never has everything I need.
