Gotta admit both Elly and Liz are drawn very blandly. Gotta assume that is the self-perception of the artist and the perception of her own daughter. Liz would look better with contact lenses or designer eyeglasses. She looks almost geriatric with that eyeglasses. She is not a snappy dresser just like her mother. She might do better to try to experiment with fashions and see which style suits her besides comfortable and shabby clothes. She is a tween – one foot still in her childhood and another wth glimpses of teenagehood. She’s seen it and realizes she is her mother’s daughter.

You, you are the one who needs to change!

Liz has pretty hair. But a little highlight might make it more interesting, nothing drastic, maybe a red highlight.

I have always felt that when you go to get a haircut, you want YOU to look better in your mind. You want to feel better, and have it show you in the stylist’s mirror. Immediately. To boost your self impression. Look what happens when you don’t get what you want? And if your hair is incredible?? No stopping you!!!!!

Age 13-14 is the worst time for everyone, especially girls.

Always Start at the top so do something with the hair and work down for contacts, then down to the makeup and then the wardrobe! Then say you want to be call Beth!

What ever you do Liz, do not and I repeat do not ask your girl friends how to style your hair. The most likely will tell you to cut it almost razor short. Ask a friend that is a boy what he thinks of your hair and dollars to donuts, he would say, “your hair is beautiful just the way it is”

frame of mind? I’m so glad I’m not a teen anymore… except for the whole waking up with back ache thing…

It’s not really about her hair. She just wants to grow up and is noticing herself more.

A trip to the salon!

That sad moment when the mother realizes that her daughter no longer wants to the wear the same hairstyle as her mother. Elly is trying to throw her off by making her think that it is not about the hair, but I don’t think that trick will work this time.

How about a little less ‘self-pity’… But, after all, she is a teen and the whole world revolves around her ;-)

Her mom sees the real problem. It’s not the hair that’s the problem. It’s the attitude. But that’s harder to change, and will come only with time and experience.

Elly is right: Elizabeth needs to think of what she has going for her. For example, if Elizabeth was locked in a tower, her hair would be the means by which she could rescued by a handsome prince!

Elizabeth seems torn. She thinks that changing her hair would help, but likes her current style enough that she doesn’t want to change it in any specific way.

Since Halloween is coming near, this could be a great strip:

…the voodoo lady waves goodbye to Elizabeth, who walks out with a tsantsa (shrunken head) on her shoulders!
