“Ugh” is right. My mother worked in my grade school’s principal’s office, but I assiduously avoided her. I didn’t want to be known as getting special favors as Mrs. So-and-So’s kid, or as a Momma’s Boy. It might have hurt her feelings, but that’s how I felt. I even took the school bus instead of driving with her to school.
Yep. Mom was a first grade teacher in my school. I had to be a goody-goody because all the teachers had to do was walk down the hall and tell on me to my mother. Not good.
My Dad was the principal of my grade school. Never let the harassers get in my head. I did get bullied some but never snitched on them. If I needed lunch money it was right down the hall. And no I did not get any special treatment from the teachers.
I once had my mom as a sub. Worst day of school ever! Then she became a full-time teacher and taught at the same grade school my younger brother attended. Lucky him.
I wound up in the same Junior High School in Brooklyn where my father taught. I never got any classes with him but word got around and I was constantly having other students confronting me with “your old man gave me a D” etc. He was also drinking buddies with some of my teachers and was quick to know if I messed up.

Think of how bad it is when your Dad is the Superintendent.

I had a classmate whose mother was a teacher. She was the most obnoxious brat you’d never want to meet.

I uh… yeah, by week two, I don’t think teachers are smiling about having to go to school.

Fortunately, I never taught in the same schools my son went to. I’m sure he feels the same way.
