Grandpa Green gave Daddy a bunch of old family heirlooms including a salt kettle brought over from Ireland. We were loading them up to take home when Uncle G V came up to let us know he and others were irritated by him taking them.
“Daddy gave them to me.”
“Yeah, and he gave them to ME and to Junior. We just didn’t take them while he’s still alive to use them.”
Grandpa came up and said, “R A, I sure am glad you’re getting them. I’ve been trying for years to get rid of them.”
Our house had 5 people in it with the prior owners – parents plus 3 children until the children grew up – as did the house next door. The two of us over fill the house on our own. But we do not use all of the rooms as the builder intended as we run my accounting practice and our craft business in the house – and more recently husband has been doing counseling online since he retired as director of a children’s mental health facility.
Kitchen is pretty normal in use as are the bathrooms and the master bedroom.
Living room serves as husband’s “loom room” (for weaving) from mid January to December – I get the room for the remaining month for holiday decorating.
Dining room is used for ironing items I sew both for us for reenacting and toy items for sale, as well as for holiday dinners.
What was a family room behind the kitchen is our main studio space – filled with storage and 2 long tables back to back so we each have a table or we can clear them off and have 5’ by 6’ table to work with – unfortunately my table has been the spare food storage area since the pandemic started so I get little sewing/embroidery done.
The finished half of our basement holds bolts of fabric and has 2 metal office cabinets with spare inventory in them. There is a large garbage pail with leather hides and pieces. A cutting table for fabric and mat board – and of course matboard and shipping supplies. Other half of basement has small tool workshop.
Garage is the wood workshop. Medium bedroom is our office – both for personal, my accounting practice, the craft business and his counseling.
Small bedroom is the Teddies room – where my collection of stuffed and other bears and their friends live – except for the ones who live in the Teddy Village in the small hall.

No one ever wants to admit that they aren’t pack rats, even if it’s just a little. Also, no one ever likes to admit to being wrong . . .

They must be too cheap to buy a storage rental space.
